White Lies" By Natasha Trethewey

There is a lot of color imagery in this poesy, the beginning stanza especially. It mentions 6 different colors, all describing the lies. Its some(predicate) an African American female child that may tell petty(a) lies that applyt unfeignedly mean much. She would lie about where she lived, and where she bought her clothes, except would also lie about being African American. decline below the poem is the history of Natasha Trethewey, and she was a miss that was average blithesome enough to pass for colour. Its authentically really execrable the way she describes lying about her contend color. She writes, I could even keep quiet, quiet as kept, c atomic number 18 the time a sporty girl said ( hug my hand), at present we have three of us in this class. Its sad because shes not lying to act cool. When she writes squeezing my hand, I crap a sense that she merely lie because she desire the way the girl was acting like her friend. The first stanza does a really good j ob in describing that she is really light skinned for an African American. It says, I was growing up/light-bright, near- duster/high-yellow, red-boned/in a black place. The words light-bright and near-white make me bring forward of a very light color. I also get a double meaning with the color white. While white is committed throughout the poem to lies, at the end of the poem it is committed to soap that will purify someone.
